Optimising your business relationships with organisational network analysis

“Currently, jobs that involve participating in interactions, rather than extracting raw materials or making finished goods account for more than 80% of all employment in the USA” – McKinsey Research, 2005.

Why

“One of the most important findings was that doctors who had more interpersonal networks adopted the new medical drug more quickly than those that did not. This meant that interpersonal communication channels with peers had a strong influence on the adoption process” - E.M Rogers, 1968
“In our study of organizations seeking IT cost savings via outsourcing, we found that good relationship management made a 40% difference in cost savings” – Logica and Warwick Business School, 2005.

“ITIL looks for the first time at some business fundamentals and the relationships between all the players in modern organisations using IT” – Sharon Taylor, Chief Architect, ITIL Service Management Practices.

  • Optimising and managing your business relationships are now not only pervasive but can directly impact your bottom line.
  • The ability of your staff to build effective and productive interactions both inside and outside your organisation is a key challenge. While mature methods and tools have been available for analysing production processes, the same cannot be said for businesses that rely on people interactions.
  • An exception is Organisational Network Analysis (ONA). ONA provides both visual and analytical methods for assessing and improving your networks of business relationships. Benefits accrue at multiple levels; from the individual, looking to enhance their personal networking, to the organisation wanting to facilitate greater co-operation between business units.
  • This workshop is aimed at introducing participants to the power of ONA in optimising their business relationships. Case studies are presented describing how ONA benefits have been achieved at the individual, intra- and inter-enterprise level. A “practitioners” session is included to enable participants to experience firsthand, the power of analysing relationship networks across an organisation.
